Terresd'Avenir

Project under study — not yet deployed. In Cameroon, customary law and family conflicts keep women farmers under a permanent threat of eviction. Terres d'Avenir puts women at the heart of the land circuit: long-term leases and titles registered for cooperatives they manage—so autonomy stops being a male privilege.

Terres d'Avenir — women secured on their land, outskirts of YaoundéUnder study
The land barrier

Guarantee women the right to exist on their land so that autonomy stops being a male privilege.

In Cameroon, customary law and family land conflicts keep women farmers under a permanent threat of eviction and dispossession. Investing on land without legal guarantee condemns them to work in fear of losing everything overnight.

Terres d'Avenir breaks that precariousness: we formalise and register long-term leases and land titles directly for the benefit of women-managed cooperatives. If the family plot is already solid, validation is enough and Gouttes d'Avenir can proceed. Otherwise we study acquiring non-buildable farmland on the outskirts of Yaoundé. Secured on her are, each woman farmer plans, invests and keeps exclusive control of her income.

The journey

From the plot to self-reliance

Rights

Put women at the heart of the land circuit

First step under study: clarify who can farm sustainably—titles, family agreements, registrations—and place women farmers at the centre of that formalisation. Many Gouttes d'Avenir Hubs will rely on a plot the family already holds once use rights are consolidated.

Acquisition only if the diagnosis shows it: non-buildable farmland only, on the outskirts of Yaoundé (including Angon), for a multi-year horizon—never funding concrete.

Agroecology

Invest without fear of losing everything

On secured plots: compost, rotations, mulch ≥ 10 cm against battering crust, local biopesticides—suited to clay-lateritic soils and Centre Cameroon's dry season.

Training and follow-up by Awaken Destiny Yaoundé: each woman farmer can plan several seasons and connect to the Gouttes d'Avenir kit—without land becoming a vulnerability again.

Power

Dignified income they keep control of

Secured on her are, each woman farmer sells part of production on local markets. The goal is not permanent aid, but dignified income of which she keeps exclusive control.

Land is no longer a source of vulnerability: it becomes the legal foundation of their emancipation and of local food security.

Solidarity

Surplus feeds those who need it

When production exceeds household and market needs, surplus joins the foundation's work: food distribution for vulnerable people.

Two circuits, one land: self-reliance through sales, solidarity through sharing. That is the heart of Terres d'Avenir.

Fund the acquisition

A clear plot, a model that lasts

Reference plot — 1,000 m²

€5,000

Order of magnitude under study: ~€5,000 for 1,000 m² of non-buildable farmland near Yaoundé, or for heavier legal securing for the benefit of women-managed cooperatives. Amounts confirmed file by file—no land acquired yet.

  • Acquisition of non-buildable farmland (if needed)
  • Or stronger legal securing (registered acts, leases)
  • First agroecological cultivation suited to the local climate
  • Training and follow-up by Awaken Destiny Yaoundé

Goal under study: a few reference files on the outskirts of Yaoundé to anchor the model (self-reliance + solidarity surplus), linked to the Gouttes d'Avenir cluster.

Support acquiring a plot

Dual circuit

Sales and sharing

On each plot, most market-bound production funds farmers' self-reliance. A share of surplus is set aside for distribution led by the foundation.

So your gift does not only buy a piece of land: it opens a cycle where the land feeds both those who cultivate and those who can no longer afford to eat.

Sustainability

Designed to last

Beyond acquisition, Terres d'Avenir follows the FIETS approach: five dimensions that secure self-reliance without creating dependency.

Financial

Selling harvests provides household income; surplus feeds solidarity distribution without a new gift for every meal.

Institutional

Awaken Destiny Yaoundé steers plot access, training and follow-up—rooted locally, linked to the foundation in Belgium.

Environmental

Exclusively non-buildable farmland; agroecological practices to protect soils and biodiversity.

Technical

Local know-how, adapted tools, hands-on training—no dependence on imported tech that vanishes from markets.

Social

Titles and leases for the benefit of women-managed cooperatives: economic autonomy stops being a male privilege.

Impact

What each plot changes

Three transfers of power: the right to exist on the land, exclusive control of income, and a legal foundation for emancipation.

Rights

End of land precariousness

Long-term leases and titles registered for women-managed cooperatives—no more permanent threat of eviction or dispossession.

Power

Income they keep control of

Secured on her are, each woman farmer plans several seasons, invests in agroecology and earns dignified income of which she keeps exclusive control.

Foundation

Land as emancipation

Land is no longer a source of vulnerability: it becomes the unshakeable legal foundation of their emancipation and of local food security.

Agroecological Hub

One Hub, two levers

For institutional funders: one dossier. For the public: two donation levers. Terres d'Avenir (land) and Gouttes d'Avenir (water) form the Hub under study near Yaoundé — complementary, never competing.
