Since July 2026, our partner association's projects share one roof in Nkolmesseng (Mébé-city). Yaoundé is the operational heart of the Cameroonian association — not an establishment of the Belgian foundation.
Sewing workshop, soap-making, after-school support, food aid and close follow-up: this is where the association coordinates daily work with the local team and the families we accompany.

Nkolmesseng
Cameroon's political capital and seat of the Mfoundi department (Centre Region), Yaoundé — the “city of seven hills” — concentrates administrations, universities and a dense urban agglomeration. Our partner association has its headquarters in Nkolmesseng, in the Yaoundé V arrondissement commune.
In Ewondo, Nkolmesseng means the “hill of the parasol trees” (nkol: hill; messeng: parasol trees). A popular neighbourhood on the eastern urban fringe, bordering Ngousso, Mfandena and Essos, it is also the administrative seat of Yaoundé V: sub-prefecture, public services, and high densities at arrondissement scale.
Working here means the association stays close to urban families: popular housing, often informal work, and a cost of living that weighs even when Yaoundé's monetary poverty incidence (10.8% — NIS, ECAM5 2022) sits well below the national average. The local challenge is not “average national misery”, but accompanying precarious households in a fast-growing metropolis.
Like other parts of Yaoundé V, Nkolmesseng has for several years been undergoing road modernisation (notably the Nkolmesseng–Éleveur corridor, with sections toward Mébé-city), under public urban programmes — including PDVIR supported by the World Bank. A neighbourhood in transition; the association has run its projects under one roof here since July 2026.

Ewondo (also called kóló) is a Bantu language of the Beti group, spoken mainly in Cameroon’s Centre region — including Yaoundé, where it remains one of the most widely heard national languages. It is in this language that Nkolmesseng means the “hill of the parasol trees”.
