MTN Mobile Money
MTN Mobile Money (often called MoMo) is MTN Cameroon’s electronic money service: receive, pay and withdraw via phone and agents — alongside Orange Money in the country’s mobile-money landscape.
Updated
Like Orange Money, MoMo lets a recipient without a bank account receive an international transfer on their number and cash out at an agent. The choice between the two often depends on which network the family already uses.
From Europe, many apps deliver to MTN MoMo. The same checks apply: final amount in XAF, timing, possible cash-out fees, and the exact phone number.
We do not rank one operator over another: the goal is to understand the channel so you can compare the real cost of sending money.

- Hidden fees / exchange spreadThe main hidden cost of a transfer is the exchange spread: the gap between the official EUR/XAF peg (655.957) and the less favourable rate the operator applies — often dearer than the advertised “€0 fee”.
- CFA franc (XAF)The Central African CFA franc, ISO code XAF, is the official currency of the six CEMAC countries, including Cameroon. It is linked to the euro by a fixed peg guaranteed by BEAC.
